Join us for a FREE Youth Event in Mackay, designed for teenagers aged 11-17 years! Here’s what you can expect:

Additional Information:

• Parents are welcome to attend.
• Please bring your own picnic rugs and some cash for the youth market stalls.
• Adult volunteers and council staff from the youth development team will be present throughout the day.
• This is an alcohol-free event.

Background: This event is organized as part of the YOL1000 project (Youth Out Loud 1000 Voices), where we collected 1000 conversations from young people across the Mackay Region. Lack of events and activities was a top concern raised during these conversations. The Youth and Arts Development Team conducted a series of Youth Focused, Youth Led Event Workshops called FIRECRACKER! Following the completion of the workshop series, a group of young people decided to organize their own event, giving birth to Picnic in the Park. This event is actively supported and funded by the Mackay Regional Council.
