Get ready for an afternoon of iconic Australian music as rugby league legend Eric Grothe and his band The Gurus present Great Southern Land — The ICEHOUSE Tribute Show at Airlie Beach Hotel.
Taking the stage on Saturday October 3 from 2pm to 5.30pm, this free live show celebrates the unforgettable music of one of Australia’s most successful and influential bands.
Generations of music fans have grown up with ICEHOUSE classics including Great Southern Land, Crazy, Electric Blue, We Can Get Together, Hey Little Girl, Man of Colours and more. With more than 12 million albums sold, eight Top 10 albums, over 30 Top 40 singles, and induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame, ICEHOUSE remain one of Australia’s most important bands.
Fronting this special tribute is Eric Grothe, best known to rugby league fans as “The Guru” — a Parramatta Eels great, Australian Test player and New South Wales State of Origin representative — now bringing his passion for ICEHOUSE to the stage on guitar and lead vocals.
Backed by his six-piece band, Eric Grothe & The Gurus recreate the energy, atmosphere and unmistakable sound of a live ICEHOUSE performance, delivering a 90-minute tribute packed with the songs that helped define Australian music.
The show also features a rockin’ Gurus party set, celebrating the best of the 80s and more.
