This four-day intensive is designed for yoga therapists, meditation teachers, and allied health professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge of pranayama, breathwork, and the science of breathing as powerful tools for physical, mental, and emotional health. The course blends ancient wisdom with modern scientific research, showing how correct breathing techniques can serve as medicine for a wide range of conditions.
You will explore:
The history and philosophy of pranayama, including its 3500-year-old roots in the Rg Veda.
The latest scientific findings on breathing and its effects on health, resilience, and neuroplasticity.
Correct breathing techniques to optimise vagus nerve function, enhance relaxation, and improve heart rate variability.
How to identify and address common breathing malocclusions (e.g., deviated septum, nasal collapse, poor diaphragm function).
The role of nasal breathing, breath-holding (kumbhaka), and extended exhalations (rechaka) in managing anxiety, sleep disorders, asthma, and other conditions.
